About the Company

Jakers Treats is a Canadian family owned and operated business, whose owners have over 30 years of experience in the meat industry. Our business started in 2013 and our goal is to manufacture 100% all natural Canadian pet treats. Our company is committed to offering a healthy and delicious alternative to big-box brands, as we are deeply rooted in our love of dogs.

We are proud to provide dog treats that help contribute to your pet's health, happiness and well being. We wouldn't feed our pets anything but the best and our commitment to them is at the root of our commitment to offering the best healthy dog treats to you.

About the name

Jakers Treats was inspired by the love of our Boxer, Jake. The story begins with what was a routine stop at our neighbourhood pet shop. While admiring all the animals, a puppy brindle Boxer caught my eye. I always wanted a boxer but didn't have intentions of buying a dog that day. For some reason though, I was drawn to him. People were inquiring about him but I decided that Jake was going home with me that day.

After signing all the paperwork, I brought Jake to the vet to have him checked and to my surprise, I was told he had a level 3 heart murmur. The vet said that he shouldn't have even been sold. I went back to the store and shared the bad news along with the vet's report to validate it, and I was told that they would take him back and refund me. I asked "what would they do with Jake?" When they told me that they would send him back to the breeder and that he would then be put up for adoption, I told them that I would adopt him and give him a chance. There was no way Jake would get euthanized (because I know that's what would have happened).

So Jake is part of our family and is an 85 pound healthy brindle Boxer (with a heart murmur of course). Having previous experience in the dog treat industry, I wanted to make sure that he has the best all natural healthy treats available since I am pretty sure I gave him the treat of life!
